Geckos, commonly found in homes, may seem harmless except for the inconvenience of their droppings affecting our ablutions. However, did you know that geckos could serve as conduits for dangerous sorcery?
In this article, we delve into the world of geckos, exploring how these small creatures can be associated with sorcery, understanding the risks involved, and discovering ways to steer clear of potential harm.
Geckos and Sorcery
In Islamic teachings, geckos are deemed creatures that should be exterminated. This belief stems from a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º, stating:
_"Whoever kills a gecko with one strike, for him are one hundred merits. If it takes two strikes, then for him are merits different from the first, and if it takes three strikes, then for him are merits different from the second."_ (Narrated by Muslim)
The reason behind this directive lies in the gecko's alleged involvement in igniting the fire meant to burn the Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام, as recounted by 'Aishah رضي الله عنها:
_"We were killing geckos, and the Prophet informed us that when Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, not a single creature on Earth at that time except the gecko would have extinguished it by blowing on it. So, the Prophet commanded us to kill it."_ (Narrated by Ibn Majah)
Moreover, geckos are known to be creatures often utilized as instruments for sorcery. Certain groups of jinn take on the form of geckos, spreading magic upon their targets, as per a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad ï·º:
_"Jinn are of three types: one type that flies through the air, one type that appears as animals crawling on the ground, and one type that resides and travels around."_ (Narrated by Thabrani, Hakim, Baihaki with an authentic chain)
Observing home-based spiritual healing sessions, one might witness geckos falling, some dead, and even charred as if burned. This suggests that these geckos carry sorcery potentially harmful to us.
Geckos and Health
Beyond sorcery concerns, geckos can pose health risks. They harbor harmful bacteria such as E. Coli, which can lead to severe diarrhea. Diarrhea, if left untreated, may result in dehydration, malnutrition, and even death.
E. Coli bacteria can enter our bodies through food or drink contaminated by gecko droppings. These droppings may adhere to eating utensils, glasses, or bottles we use. Therefore, maintaining personal and environmental hygiene is crucial.
Avoiding Gecko Hazards
To steer clear of gecko-related dangers, consider the following precautions:
- Promptly eliminate geckos found in your home. Use tools like brooms, sprays, or spears to eradicate them. Alternatively, commercial gecko repellents are available, but exercise caution to prevent exposure to pets or children.
- Cleanse your living space of gecko droppings, potential bacterial sources. Employ wet cloths, soap, or cleaning agents to sanitize surfaces affected by gecko waste. Always wash hands with soap after cleaning gecko droppings.
- Maintain a gecko-unfriendly environment at home. Seal openings in walls, roofs, or floors, repel mosquitoes and insects (gecko prey), and illuminate your surroundings at night to discourage geckos.
By understanding the potential risks associated with geckos and implementing preventive measures, you can ensure a safer and more harmonious living environment.
