Masjid al-Haram Equipped with Multi-Language Robots |
Alhamdulillah, the Saudi government continues to innovate in enhancing the comfort of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. One of its revolutionary steps is the deployment of advanced robots powered by the latest technology.
Multi-Language Guide Robots
Pilgrims can now enjoy direct guidance from AI-based guide robots. With a 21-inch touchscreen, these robots provide assistance on various rituals at Masjid al-Haram. They are equipped with smart stop systems to avoid collisions with objects or pilgrims.
The main advantage of these robots is their ability to speak 11 languages, including Chinese, Russian, English, French, Persian, and Turkish. This feature greatly facilitates communication between pilgrims from different countries and scholars.
The Saudi government states that the primary aim of this technology development is to simplify and revolutionize services at Masjid al-Haram.
Automatic Cleaning Robots
To maintain cleanliness and ensure the health of pilgrims, the Saudi government also operates automatic cleaning robots. These robots are designed to clean and sterilize areas within the mosque while helping to prevent the spread of viruses, including COVID-19. This technology ensures that Masjid al-Haram remains clean efficiently.
Zamzam Water Transport Robots
Zamzam water, sourced from the well beneath Masjid al-Haram, is now distributed by advanced robots. These robots can carry up to 68.14 liters of the sacred Zamzam water and operate automatically without human intervention.
The water transport robots are equipped with cameras and overhead sensors to avoid collisions. With speeds of up to five kilometers per hour, they ensure that the Zamzam water reaches the pilgrims safely and efficiently.
Technological Innovations for Islamic Education
In addition to serving pilgrims, advanced technology at Masjid al-Haram is also used to educate Muslims. One example is the Smart Quran, which assists visually impaired individuals in reading the Quran in Braille.
Another educational initiative is Maqra' Al-Haramayn, which provides electronic Quran lessons in six languages, including Urdu, English, and Hausa. This program allows Muslims worldwide to earn certifications in Quranic studies.
