Loving Jesus is a sign of Islam and the faith of a Muslim

One of the common misconceptions among many non-Muslims is that Muslims do not believe in Jesus or Prophet Isa AS. Misinformation and assumptions are the fuel that drives this myth.

There are many non-Muslims who misunderstand Muslims. Some of them assume that a Muslim is considered not to believe in Jesus or the prophet Isa AS.

In fact, the fact is that Muslims believe and believe in Jesus and love him as much as Christians. But there is a major difference regarding the role of Jesus.

The Main Differences in the Role of Jesus for Muslims and Christians

The majority of Christians believe that Jesus is God incarnate or the son of God. A Muslim, on the other hand, strongly rejects the idea that God has children or is part of a trinity. Muslims believe in the words of Allah in the Qur'an:
وَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ ۖ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًا
And say: "Praise be to Allah Who has no children and has no partner in His kingdom and He is not lowly in need of a helper and glorify Him with the greatest exaltation." (Surat al-Isra: 111).

According to Islamic belief, Jesus was a prophet of Allah as was the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam). He is a Prophet as well as an Apostle who came to convey God's message to mankind.

There is a female convert from North Carolina, Sumayyah Meehan, who once told her story when she questioned the role of Jesus. "I still remember sitting in the living room with my mother as a child and cleaning out some old photo albums. I opened one of them and a picture of a very young man with long hair and blue eyes slid out. So I wanted to know who he and mom were." I said, 'Oh that's Jesus!'

"Even as a small child, I questioned how such a picture could have existed if he lived hundreds of years ago. I don't understand how this “photo” could be real and I asked my mother for further answers. But my mother didn't have it, " he added.

Since then, the question “Why did God need a son?” firmly entrenched in Sumayyah's mind. The question continued to be buried from time to time. However, he couldn't find anyone who could answer him.

Sumayyah believes there is confusion and confusion regarding the role of Jesus in the previously held religious faith. Many adherents of previous religions believed that Jesus was the son of God, while others believed that he was God.

In Sumayyah's family, they believed both of them which made him even more confused. He does not understand to have to pray? to God or Jesus?

Meanwhile, Muslims fully believe that Jesus is the servant and prophet of Allah SWT.

Sumayyah had seen her grandmother sitting and praying with clenched hands and saying, "In the name of Jesus. Amen." So Sumayyah did the same.

It was only after Sumayyah entered college that she finally had many opportunities to explore and find out who Jesus was. He visited many churches, from Catholic to Presbyterian, and everything in between.

He didn't care how many churches he visited or the sermons he listened to, he still couldn't find Jesus. It took him months before he finally realized that he should seek God.

However, one day he had time to read a translated Koran which made him very interested. Sumayyah read it in 1996 when he was 22 years old.

He told me that after only reading a few pages, his eyes filled with tears. He read on and on, absorbing every word over the next few months.

When his reading reaches the Surah Mary, which is named after Mary the mother of Jesus, he finally understands Jesus' role as God's Prophet and learns the truth about his miraculous birth, life and prophecy. He increasingly knows that Islam is his religion and he declares his faith in Allah SWT along with all His Books and Prophets. Subhan Allah..

Hopefully many Muslims and other non-Muslims will take lessons from the true story told by Sumayyah. The story of the journey to find Jesus.
