Why In Islam People Must Be Pure and Clean When Praying?

What will we prepare when we meet the people we love? When proposing a girl to a prospective mother-in-law's house, for example. Or what are our preparations when we will face our boss, the person who usually pays us regularly? Or also, what do we do when we want to face a president?

Of course, the answer to the various questions above, before meeting them, we need to prepare ourselves with a clean body as well as neatly dressed. This is a very important element. Even though this is only the level of meeting fellow humans. How do we prepare when we want to serve our Lord, when we face the Essence we respect the most, the creator of our souls and bodies who from nothing to exist, "pays" us with various kinds of favors every second. At least, we can't ignore the clean, holy elements as in the analogy above.

Holiness includes two aspects, outer and inner. If only outward purity is so obligatory, of course, inner purity is more needed when someone wants to worship.

Islam places cleanliness at the forefront. Almost all literacy books of fiqh, must begin with the chapter taharah which means holy. Not only clean, holy occupies a position above it. That means it's very clean.

Purity is the main concern because it is the base of prayer. There are many verses of the Qur'an that command purification, including the word of Allah SWT:

 (يَا اَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ ا اِذَا اِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اغْسِلُوْا (الاية)

Meaning: O you who believe, when you are about to pray, wash your faces. .... (Surah: Al Maidah: 6)

وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ
Meaning: To your clothes, purify. (Surat al-Muddatsir: 4)

In the hadith, Rasulullah SAW also said:

مِفْتَاحُ الصَّلاَةِ الطَّهُوْرُ
Meaning: The key to prayer is holy.

Purification, besides being commanded in the Qur'an or hadith, also contains some wisdom and secrets that can be learned as extracted from one of the scholars of Al-Azhar, Cairo, Ali Ahmad Al-Jurjawi in his book Hikmatut Tasyri', h: 59- 63 [Darul Fikr].

First, during prayer time, angels are not interested in seeing a servant in dirty clothes, the smell is musty.

Second, if people are lined up, lined up with other humans in the prayer line, while their clothes are dirty, it will definitely disturb other worshipers. Therefore, Islam recommends taking a bath for anyone who wants to pray Friday and Eid. There people gathered, crammed into one.

Dirty clothes, musty smell is a painful disaster for those around him. Hurting others is avoided in Islam down to such detail.

Third, humans have two sides of personality. Animals and angels. This means that every human being has a personality that is equated with animal connections and angelic connections. If people are having sex with husband and wife, the animal personality is defeating the angelic personality. In other words, he is hurting the angelic personality. In order to recover it, one needs to clean up with a jinna bath.

Fourth, ablution and bathing it fosters a new spirit, expels laziness. People who carry out worship can appear fresh, fresh and enthusiastic. The same is true for people who are menstruating and giving birth.

Fifth, bodies that are usually cleansed are bodies that are usually made to carry out immorality. The face with the eye instrument that is used to seeing immorality, eating unlawful wealth, smelling the aroma that he should not breathe, the hand taking property that is not in the right way, hurting others, walking to a location that is not pleasing to Allah, the ear listening to things that Allah has forbidden. 'ala.

By being cleansed through ablution, the whole body becomes clean and prepares the spirit to worship Allah Ta'ala. However, it must be accompanied by cleansing oneself of internal impurities which include lust, envy, envy, pride, showing off, and so on. (Ahmad Mundzir)
