According to research conducted by the University of California, San Diego, fasting can extend the body's rest periods by reducing meal times. This positively impacts hormone balance and metabolic processes, both of which are influential factors in breast cancer risk.

"Fasting is a simple dietary alteration with substantial health effects, requiring no calorie or nutrition counting," notes Catherine Marinac, a researcher involved in the study.

Lowered Blood Sugar Levels Through Fasting

The same study also found that fasting can effectively lower blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels can elevate the risk of breast cancer by promoting the growth of cancerous cells.

"We observed that extending the fasting duration by three hours in the evening can lead to a 4 percent reduction in blood sugar levels," states another researcher, Ruth Patterson.
