Although Islam in South Korea is still a minority religion, Islam there has experienced significant growth over the past decade due to tourism and returns.

According to estimates by the Korean Muslim Federation, the current number of Muslims in the ginseng country (as of January 2022) has reached about 200,000, which is only 0.38 percent of the total population of South Korea.

Of the total number of Korean Muslims, the majority consist of students and also workers from Turkey, Pakistan and Uzbekistan who have later transferred Korean citizenship.
